Technical Support Engineer

We are seeking a Technical Support Engineer for a long-standing Client in the Newcastle area. The Technical Support Engineer role offers a competitive salary of up to £32k, generous holiday allowance and a standard working week of 37.5 hours Monday to Friday.
You will be working as part of a team of 7 providing technical support on the installation, programming and fault finding for door entry and access control products. As part of the team, you will also be involved in the creation, editing and production of technical documents and wiring diagrams for both external and internal use.
The Technical Support Technician role will ideally suit someone with excellent communication skills who possesses an electronics background, is able to understand wiring diagrams and has good fault-finding skills.
The responsibilities of the Technical Support Technician include:
  • Provide full technical support to customers.
  • Check orders to ensure the products specified are correct and will work as a system.
  • Produce wiring diagrams using CAD and technical documents to accompany customer orders.
  • Provide training to customers and internal personnel on products and systems.
  • Undertake site visits as and when required.
  • Provide training and development where appropriate.
  • Assist management to identify solutions to problems.
  • Assist the R&D department in the new product development.
The ideal Technical Support Technician will hold the following skills, knowledge, and experience:
  • Electronics / IT support Background.
  • Able to understand wiring diagrams
  • Able to communicate complex solutions in layman’s terms
  • Able to use basic test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Good communication skills.
  • Patient and calm under pressure.
  • Computer Literate.
  • Fault Finding Experience with methodical approach to resolving problems.
